As doctors, we all want to be masterful. We want the magic of our patients’ lives blossoming before us! But, reality can fall short — the patient’s history is vague and exam and lab findings seem unrelated. What now?
Whole System Patient Data Integration AK.
Examination with AK can lead us to possibilities we may not have considered, direct us to run exams or lab tests that we would have otherwise overlooked, and contextualize our data to make it meaningful and powerful.
How else would you know the patient’s chronic digestive problem is due to a cranial fault, their chronic and unresponsive shoulder pain is a result of an ancient, painless, but unresolved ankle sprain, mitochondrial dysfunction is the root of their neurotransmitter imbalances, or that an acupuncture imbalance is driving their constant sadness?
Does AK work? Does a deep tendon reflex work? After this course you will know the neurological foundations for this method and you will have more clinical certainty.
“See” Your Patients’ Systems
AK is a Gesture- Based User Interface for your patient’s systems! Remember Minority Report? Tom Cruise plays an elite police officer who uses hand gestures to control multiple holographic computer screens floating in space in front of him. He grabs one, expands it, scrolls through the data, then shrinks the screen and groups it with other screens. He’s gathering and contextualizing data to determine the meaning within it.
Mentally Diagram Total Patient System Function
AK is the tool that allows you to hack a patient’s nervous system to gather and contextualize patient history, exam findings, labs, and other data.
Using AK you can quickly, efficiently, and clearly determine the relationships between a patients’ neurological, musculoskeletal, visceral, biochemical, and emotional systems.
Fulfill the Promise of Functional Medicine
The Functional Medicine/Healthcare Model is fulfilled through using AK! Pitfalls of the functional medicine model are the prohibitive costs of the extensive and exotic lab testing and once the testing is done the typical “kitchen sink” approach to clinical nutrition that can quickly discourage a patients’ spirit and compliance and exhaust their pocketbook.
Applied kinesiology allows you to use a systems-driven functional medicine model that is lean and efficient. AK allows you to test suppositions about your workup data, determine relationships, and discover the “lowest common denominator” for patient findings. Without AK how could you determine the lowest common denominator for a patient with chronic viral infections, mitochondrial dysfunction, generalized joint instability, hypothyroidism and urea cycle dysfunction to be manganese deficiency?
What good will localized treatment of musculoskeletal pain be when a patient lacks coordination of their posture or gait? Not much. However, AK objectively normalizes posture and gait within moments.
Experience Clinical Efficiency
When you are looking at a patient with presentation of systemic inflammation suspicious of prostaglandin imbalances you can run some rather exotic and very expensive lab work. Or, you could do some AK exam of the PG system, determine a logical course of action, run a “clinical trial of one” with the patients’ permission and observe for confirmation with follow-up AK and patient presentation. Without results you can fall back on the lab testing for more data and resolution.
You will be able to consistently produce immediate results using AK methods. Yes, pain and ROM. But, also, physical exam, orthopedic, and neurological patients. You will be able to WOW patients over and over again throughout your day. These approaches are practical, efficient, and cost-effective for the patient. They also develop rapport, trust, and long-term relationships with patients and their family and friends.
You will learn
- Neurological principles of afferentation, efferentation, tone, and transneuronal degeneration
- Proprioception, righting reflexes, and the neurological organization of posture and gait
- Accurate muscle testing
- AK assessment of somato-somatic, somatovisceral,viscero-somatic, and viscero-visceral reflexes, meaning to patients’ condition, and how to treat for them
- Spinal and extremity manual therapies
- Craniosacral therapies – including TMJ
- AK applications of acupuncture
- Muscle – organ relationships
- Accurate nutrient testing
- Precision muscle therapies – muscle spindle cell, golgi tendon organ, origin-insertion, trigger points, facial flush, strain – counterstrain
- Integrating AK with physical exam, orthopedic, neurological, and lab findings
- Diagnostic algorithms for chronic, complex, and recurring conditions
